Stamp Out Hunger 2024

May 11

Stamp Out Hunger

Stamp Out Hunger is the largest, single-day food drive in the nation. In its 32nd year, it is still one of the easiest ways to make a difference in your community! Here’s how you can help:

1. Donate food: A bag will arrive in your mailbox the week of May 6. Fill the bag with your favorite nonperishable food items and set it near your mailbox for pick up on the morning of May 11. Then, our extraordinary letter carriers, perform double-duty by collecting bags of donated food along their postal routes. If you did not receive a bag, you can still participate by filling any plastic or paper bag with food! This drive will happen rain or shine.

2. Donate meals: Every $1 helps Harvesters to provide 2 meals.

3. Volunteer: Sign up to be a Stamp Out Hunger volunteer at www.harvesters.org/how-to-help/volunteer/volunteer-opportunities

4. Spread the Word: Help us spread the word about the Stamp Out Hunger! On the day of the food drive post a photo of your bag by your mailbox and don’t forget to tag Harvesters.

5. Give Thanks: Thank your Letter Carrier for their hard work and their commitment to our region. Over the last ten years, letter carriers in Harvesters service region have collected over 1,715,000 pounds of food through the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why didn’t my food get picked up?
Letter Carriers will still accept food the week of May 13, if it is in the mailbox. You can also take it to any Harvesters barrel or facility until the end of May and it will count toward the Stamp Out Hunger Letter Carriers food drive!
I live in an apartment where do I put my food?
If your apartment has a “cluster” box – where all the mailboxes are together place donations next to the box so that other residents still have access to the mailbox.
Someone other than my letter carrier picked up my food!
The letter carriers are working double duty and will be running slightly behind their normal schedule. Harvesters’ volunteers are assisting the letter carriers with collecting food along the postal routes. Volunteers have been provided with buttons and car signs to help identify them. The food they collect will be taken to your post office and will support the drive. Thank you for your donation!
I have a large donation; can I leave it out for my letter carrier or volunteer?
Yes, you can. The space in the mail truck is limited so we recommend that you bring it to one of Harvesters facilities.
Do I have to leave my donation in a bag, or can I put it in a box?
You can leave it in any bag, box, or other container. We just need to make sure it is clearly identifiable that it should be picked up as part of the food drive. Ex. If someone leaves food in a trash bag by the curb it might be mistaken for trash and not picked up.
I forgot about it; how can I donate to this drive?
You can donate online at www.harvesters.org/soh.
