Community Blood Center and Harvesters are teaming up to save lives and feed those in need! Will you help us? 

COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented chronic shortage of blood donations and has heightened the need for food assistance programs as communities struggle under the economic weight of the pandemic. To help combat this, CBC has partnered with Harvesters and will donate three meals for every blood, plasma, and platelet donation.

“Community Blood Center continues to feel the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and we know we’re not the only ones,” said Patsy Shipley, Executive Director of Community Blood Center. “We’re excited to partner with Harvesters and are hopeful that individuals will step up this October to meet the needs of patients in our hospitals and hungry people in our communities.”

“There are still so many people visiting our partner agencies, many for the first time ever, so the need for food assistance is still high,” said Valerie Nicholson-Watson, President and CEO of Harvesters—The Community Food Network. “We appreciate the Community Blood Center’s help in fighting hunger in our community.”

The local blood supply remains critically low and donations of all types are needed. Platelet donations are especially needed as donations continue to decline.
