Program Outcomes
- Community Engagement: Children learn the importance of helping their community and the impact their contributions can make.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Working together on a common goal fosters teamwork and collaboration among students.
- Empathy and Compassion: Children develop empathy and compassion by understanding the challenges faced by food-insecure families.
- Leadership Skills: Students have opportunities to take on leadership roles while completing the projects, enhancing their leadership and organizational skills.
- Responsibility: Kids take responsibility for planning, promoting, and executing the food drives and packing events.
- Creativity and Problem-Solving: Students use creativity to design promotional materials and solve logistical challenges while working on the projects.
- Sense of Accomplishment: Completing the projects and seeing the direct impact of their work provides a sense of accomplishment and boosts self-esteem.
- Awareness: Children become more aware of social issues and the importance of civic engagement from a young age.
Program Goals
- Educate Students: Increase awareness and understanding of hunger, food insecurity, and nutrition among K-6 students.
- Engage Students: Provide age-appropriate hands-on volunteer opportunities that allow students to make a tangible impact.
- Empower Schools: Support elementary schools in integrating service-learning into their curriculum.
- Build Community: Foster a sense of community and collective action among students, teachers, and families.
